Koos Rounds Up Win at Mazama Ski Rodeo

Torin Koos of Rossignol/USST from Leavenworth, WA, won the Ski Rodeo by a comfortable margin on Saturday. Twenty seconds behind was 2nd place finisher Sam Naney.

Koos, a US National Team World Cup skier and two time olympian, on a short break from racing in Europe, is training in the Methow Valley and joined the fun at the Ski Rodeo for his 4th consecutive year.
Torin was challenged during the first few kilometers of the 10K event, before surging across the open Foster's Field, and dashing solo into the woods to take the 3km intermediate prime, and continuing on for the solo win.

Results for the 10km race can be found on the MVSTA webpage, but were in this order:
  1. Torin Koos
  2. Sam Naney
  3. Brad Bauer
  4. Kent Murdoch
  5. Sol Woras
  6. Laura McCabe
After a few inches of new snow overnight, the skies cleared and the sun was out. It was a perfect day for skiing in Mazama.
In the 5km event, local skiers on Christmas break from Montana State University took the top two spots. Jamie Devin and Casey Kutz finished 1st and 2nd in a foot-lunging sprint finish. Both women are freshmen at MSU, and used the short event as a tune-up for the upcoming USSA National Championship events.
